Technically Advanced Aircraft (TAA)

A technically advanced aircraft (TAA) has been designated by FAA to substitute complex aircraft training requirements for a commercial pilot' certificate. §61.129 considers a TAA to be an aircraft must be equipped with:

  • IFR-certified GPS navigation equipment with a moving map

  • Multi-function display (MFD) with weather, traffic or terrain graphics

  • An integrated two-axis autopilot
